Docket No. 50-344 (Control Building Proceeding)

Gentlemen:

In our September 12 response to the NRC Staff's Motion to nost-pone Hearing, we informed the Board that we would do everything within our ability to facilitate the issuance of an SER at the earliest possible date.

We indicated that, among other things, within a few days after the NRC Staff provided us with their remaining questions we we':'d request a meeting with the Staff in Bethesda in order to discuss both our understanding of the questions they raise and the approach we expect to take in responding, including the type of in-formation we would expect to provide.

We also indicated that, shortly after such meeting we would inform the Board and the parties as to our expected schedule for answering the NRC Staff's questions.

We have now received the following requests for additional in-formation from the NRC Staff:

September 14 - 10 questions September 20 -

Paxton Dr. Kenneth A. McCollom Page Two October 5, 1979 Our review of these additional 48 questions, including the ques-tions dated October 2, has progressed sufficiently that we have been able to schedule a meeting for the foregoing purposes with the NRC Staff on October 18.

As we have promised the Board, we will inform the Board and the parties shortly thereafter as to the timing of the filing of our answers to these questions.

We will continue to make every effort to facilitate the expedi-tious issuance of an SER and the rescheduling of the hearing at the earliest possible date.
