Metropolitan Edison Cc=pany Three Mile I's land Nuclear Station Ucncc=pliance Notifications 78-18 and 78-19 I. Descrittien of the Nenec=cliance
- a. 78-18 Cn July 2k,1978, a sample was taken frem the Industrial 'iaste Filter -
System (LTS) discharge (NPDES discharge 10k) which yielded a TSS cencentration of 283 =g/1. This result exceeded the : REDES per=it li=itatien of 100 =g/1.
- b. 78-19 Cn July 2k, 1978, a sa=ple was taken frem the LTS. ':his sanple had a pH of 9.80. This exceeds the permit limitation which allows a pE range of 6.0 - 9.0.
II. Corrective / Preventive Actions As detailed in Ncncenpliance Notification 78-17, we expect to have the proble=s associated with the pH system corrected by September 1, 1978.
In additien, the problems associated with the LTS have been docu=ented in cur letter of July 20, 1978 to the EPA (enclosed for PaDER culy).
As the EPA is aware frem our letter of June 10, 1977, (enciesed for PaDER
' only), ve are using interim treatment measures for discharge 10h until such time that the treatment system is fully operational. It is believed that an inecmplete settling of solids caused this violation.
