TMI-l CPERATING SU'C!ARY January 1978 Unit Performance The Unit operated at essentially 100% full power for the entire month except for the brief unplanned power reductica to 88% power on 01-07-78 due to a heatet drain pump seal failure and the planned power reduction to 50% power en 01-27-73 to conduct turbine stop valve testing and shift into an all-reds-out mode of operation.
The new comprehensive In-Service-Inspection program as required by 10 CFR 50.55a vent into effect this scnth requiring extensive operational testing of safety re-lated pumps and valves.
Sicnificant Pcver Reductions The Unit was reduced to about 88% power en 01-07-78 as a result of the seal failure en HD-F13.
Because ED-PlA was being overhauled when the "B" pump seal failed, only ED-Plc was available, resulting in the reduction of total feedvater flow to the steam generators. The overhaul of ED-PlA was cc=pleted and the Unit was returned to 100%
power within 8 hours9.259259e-5 days
0.00222 hours
1.322751e-5 weeks
3.044e-6 months
.
The Unit was reduced to about 50% power on 01-27-78 to conduct the turbine step valve testing. While at 50% power the Reactor Centrol Rods were withdrawn to an "All-Rods-Cut" configuration as part of the planned end of cycle mode of operation.
The Unit was returned to 100% power in 11 hours1.273148e-4 days
0.00306 hours
1.818783e-5 weeks
4.1855e-6 months
.
