Re: Docket No. 50-289 This is to acknowledge receipt of your letters of January 7 and February 5, 1969 relating to our proposal to use synchronous motor-driven roller-nut control rod drives instead of the rack-and-pinion control rod drive units described in the PSAR, and to items with respect to which additional information is desired by your staff prior to or in connection with the operating license review, respectively.
Much of the information which we may submit in response to both letters will be contained in Amendment No. 6 to the application for construction permit for the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit No. 2, AEC Docket No. 50-320. That amendment is scheduled to be filed with your staff on March 10, 1969 Within a few weeks thereafter, we will reply specifically to your letters of January 7 and February 5,1969 referencing, were appropriate, the specific sections of the Three Mile Island Unit No. 2 application, as amended by Amendment No. 6.
