' Docket No. 50-289 Y '- Operating License No. DPR-50 In response to your letter of May 13, 1977, regarding the need for infor- =ation on reactor vessel materials, we have requested the Babcock & Wilcox Company, the supplier of the reactor vessel for 'bree Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit I, to prepare the information reque.,ted in the enclosure to your letter. As you know, cost of the requested information has previous-ly been submitted in connection with the review for our participation in the integrated Reactor Vessel Surveillance Program (RVSP) on B&W plants. As a part of the activity associated with the i;.tegrated EVSF the weld material information is presently under certification review to assure all weld wire and flux heats and lots used for the surveillance programs are accurately identified. Also B&W will shortly begin work on a study to investigate the uncertainty in the chemical compositicn of certain of the veld materials as a part of the B&W integrated surveillance program. Since the present schedules for these activities are not compatible with the o0 day response requested in your letter, we request an extension until August 31, 1977, to supply the requested information. This response vill not include the veld metal chem-istry information which w:11 be supplied in a later submittal upon com-le-tion of the B&W study.
