Dear Sir:

Three Mile Island '*iuelear Station Unit 2 (TC-2)

Docket :To. 50-320 License :Ic. CFFE-c6 3y letter dated July 12., 1976, you requested that we provide certain information related to Anti:1 pated '"ransients '41thout Scras ( GS).

Analyses have been 00nducted by 3% in accordance with the requirements of your Dece=ber,1975, status repert en AT4S. 3&W filed an interi report en Dece ber 3,1976 which presented the result of the analyses conducted for the AT/S events which result in the greatest pressure excursions. In addition to analyses results, this 3&*J report also described appropriate design changes which provide the required diversity for the reacter trip syste: and theref:re the resciution to the ATiS concern.

'4e believe that 70u are aware of 3&'i's schedule for submitting a final revision to 3&*4 1CC99 in May, 1977, 21s report sill 00=plete the spectru=

of AT4S events.

"~he analyses already 00nducted have, h:vever, indicated unacceptable results.

In addition, a resciution of the ATIS concern, which ve enderse, has been presented and we do not believe that the results Of the analyses to be presented in May vill alter the proposed resolution.

In light of this, ve believe that Parts (a) and (b) er your July 12, 1976, request have been effectively fulfilled.

In vie < of the fact that you have not accepted the 3&*4 propesal f:r the resolution of AT4S, we believe that it is premature to respond to Parts (c) and (d) of your request. Since you have indicated your deter =inati:n to nove forvard to resolve the AriS concern, ve avait 70u

  • '-Cy acceptance Of Our propcsal. Upen your acceptance of the 3&*4 proposal,-ae vill pr0 vide you vith the necessary schedules f:r providing details of the plant 20difica-tion and for installati:n of the identified equipment.

Sincerely, i
