Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (D1I-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Decay Heat Pump Shafts This letter is to inform you that during the recent TMI-l refueling cutage, Met-Ed replaced the pump shafts on both DH-Pl.A and DH-P13.
The replacement shafts have rounded keyvays and the appropriate material certification and heat treatment documentaticr.. Both pumps have success-fully passed their post-maintenance Inservice Inspection Tests and are fully operational and running s cethly.
In view of having replaced the pump shafts, Met-Ed feels that there is no remaining cc==itment to perform periodic ultrasonic testing and vibratien measurements, and as such, Met-Ed intends to do only the testing recuired by ASME Section XI.
