Dear Sir:
Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Fire Protection In accordance with our letter of June 12, 1978 (GQL 1068), specifically, POSITION P13 - UNLABELED FIRE DOORS, a study has been initiated to deter-mine which alternative (i.e., replacement, establishing adequacy through tests, or certification by a registered independent fire protection engineer) vill be pursued such that the fire rating of all unlabeled fire doors can be es-tablished, and corrective action, if any, can be acccmplished.
It is antic-ipated that the study vill be ecmpleted by September 15, 1978. The NRC vill be advised upon ecmpletion of the study.
Per our letter of July 20, 1978 (GQL 1250), all unlabeled fire doors and frames vill be replaced by fire door assemblies having an appropriate rating, or the adequacy of the fire resistance of the door assemblies vill be estab-lished through tests, or other acceptable means.
