Fcllowing is a point-by-point answer to the questions in your I.E. bulletin no. 79-19 of August 10, 1979 (CRSC).

1.

The Campus Radiatioa Safety Co=mittee has copies of the relevant DOT and ?GC regulaticas.

2.

We presently contemplate to have our next disposal of radioactive vastes haniled by RAD Services Inc. of Laurel, Maryland and have the requirements of the contractor in our file.

3.

Each department using radioactive materials has one representative on the CRSC, who is also the person responsible for safe handling of the vaste dis-posal operation. Waste disposal is ccordinated by the chairman of the CRSC.

The members of the departmental Radiation Committees are responsible for the training of employees (other faculty members, research associates, graduate students, laboratory technicians, a.s.o. ) involved in vaste producing manipu-lations; minimum amount of vaste and form acceptable for transfer and storage are important censiderations.

7 Each department is responsible for its own audit. The CRSC makes certain such audits are kept up-to-date. The administration representative on the CRSC checks the procedures.

Copies of the department audits vill be examined during this coming Occ.ober by the CRSC.
