Thank you for your recent letter to me requesting that an environmental impact statement be issued on the proposed emission of radioactive gases from the Three Mile Island site.
We recently receivad a petition on the same mattar, namely, the preparation by the Commission of an environmental impact statement prior to autho-izing the venting of radioactive gases from the Three Mile Island nuclear station.
The petition is currently being evaluated and appropriate action will be taken on it in the near future. Your request will certainly be taken into consideration during the efaluation. For your inforuntion, I am enclosing a copy of the notice that is being filed for publication with the Office of the Federal Register.

Notice is i.ereby given that by petition dated August 9,1979 the Anti-Nuclear Group Rep *esenting York (ANGRY) request :d that an environmental impact statement be issued concerning the venting of radioactive gases from the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2.
This petition is being treated as a request for action under 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations, and accordinc.,1y, action will be taken on the petition within a reasonable time.
