ORDER FOR MODIFICATION OF LICENSE FOR THE THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 2
Purpose:
To inform the Commission of the planned issuance of an Order for Modification of License.
Discussion: As you know, on July 20, 1979, the staff issued an Order suspending the authority provided by Facility Operating License No. DPR-73
~
to operate Three Mile Island Nuclear Station.
In that Order we stated that a Safety Evaluation was being prepared which would address the imposition of new and/or revised Technical Specifica-tions setting appropriate license conditions to assure the continued maintenance of the current safe, stable, long-term cooling condition of the facility.
Enclosed is a copy of the revised Technical Speci-fications, the supporting Safety Evaluation, and the Order which we intend to issue to incorporate the revised Technical Specifications.
The staff intends to issue the Order and amend the license incorporat-ing the attached Technical Specifications on September 19, 1979.
