p. A. Morris, Director Division of Reactor Licensing SWJECT:

DAUPHIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 5 C ~$E I telephoned Mr. Walter Lang, Chairman, Dauphin County Commissioners, today to discuss his inquiry of February 19 addressed to Mr. J. D. Bond, Chairman of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board for the Metropolitan Edison Company.

Mr. Lang had requested the Board to send a representative to explain the significance of the proposed plan for the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit No. 1 to the County of Dauphin and its people.

In my call I noted that a copy of Mr. Lang's letter had been sent to Mr. Neidig, Vice President of Metropolitan Edison Company.

I inquired whether Mr. Lang had had con-versations with Mr. Neidig or others of the Company to explain the nuclear project.

He said that he had not, but in a telephone conversation with Mr. Neidig had set up such a meeting.

I suggested to Mr. Lang that in addition to that meeting I would send some literature describing the AEC authority and function with respect to the regulation of nuclear pcwered plants.

I suggested to Mr. Lang that following his meeting with Mr. Neidig and reviaw of the Commission literature, he might wish to reconsider whether be would liko someone from the Commission to visit with the County Commissioners.

Mr. Lang stated that he felt his interest would be completely satisfied by the meeting and the literature and by attendance at the public hearing.

He said that if there were any changes in this position, he would let me know.
