IE Bulletin 79-18 Gentlemen:

In 1978 it was detemined that the plant emergency alarm could not be heard at some locations within the plant and on the plant site due to high background noise or proximity to the speakers.

A fomal investigation to identify these areas was completed in August,1978.

As a direct result of the study, nine (9) additional speakers and one (1) additional speaker amplifier were installed.

Subsequent, testing indicated the alarm to be audible in all locations previously identified as having audibility problems.

The plant emergency alarm system is tested weekly to assure its operability.

We consider this letter fulfills the reporting requirements of IE Bulletin 79-18 and that no further action is required.

Very truly yours, j
