By my letter dated August 5,1979, we submitted a requested manndment to license DPR-68 in the form of proposed techniemi specification changes to facilitate unit 3's second refueling. In order to monitor valve performance, TVA plans to install two Crosby safety relief valves for cycle 3 operation. The two Crosby valves set at 1150 psig will replace two Target Rock valves set at 1125 psig. In order to perform this modification, changes to the technical specifications must be approved by NRC.
Therefore, we request in accordance with 10 CFR Part 50.59, an amendment to license DPR-68 to change the technical specifications of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant unit 3.
Enclosed are 40 copies of the proposed changes (Enclosure 1), as well as justification for the proposed amend-ment in the form of an Appendix to the unit 3 cycle 3 reload analysis, NEDO-24199 (Enclosure 2).
Please provide your approval of these proposed changes in a time frame consistent with approval of the August 6,1979, submittal.
