Saluda Township - Marble Hill
Dear Mr. O'Connor:
This is in response to your letter of June 27, 1979 to Chairman Hendrie asking whether the Commission can pay your bill of $533.75 for representing Saluda Township in the Marble Hill proceedings.
Payment of your bill would amount to Commission funding of the township's intervention and participation in Commission proceedings.
The Commission has previously considered whether it should fund the participation of parties inter-vening in its proceedings, and determined not to do so.
Nuclear Regulatory C'ommission (Financial Assistance to Participants in Commission Proceedings), 4 NRC 494, 41 Fed.
Reg. 50829c(November 18, 1976).
Congress has considered bills providing for Commission funding of intervenors, and the Commission has supported several of them, but the Commission is not presently actively reconsidering its decision on funding.
For these reasons, we must deny your request.
