This is in response to your letter of September 15, 1979, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, information regarding shipment of high-level nuclear materials through the tiemphis area, and information regarding safety measures which shippers are required to take.
We have been unable to locate any records relating to shipments of nuclear materials through the Memphis area.
With respect to the second part of your request, we are enclosing the seven documents listed in Appendix A.
In addition, both the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulate the transportation of radioactive material.
Copies of the complete regulations (10 CFR Parts 0-199 for NRC, and 49 CFR Parts 100-199 for DOT) may be purchased from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, DC 20402.
