(Threc.ui a Islana Nuclear Station, Unit No. 1) f MEMO RANDUM The Commission's Order and Notice of Hearing c..ited August 9, 1979 (44 Federal Register 47821, August 15, 1979) provided that petitions for leave to intervene may be filed by September 4, 1979.
The Board requested the NRC's Office of Public Affairs to nonitor the news nedia and, if possible, report to the Board the extent to which notice of the oppor tunity to seek intervention has been publicized.
As of this date the Boafd has not been able to identify any news account or other publicity (except for the Federal Register Notice) which sets forth the conditions and the time limit for intervention.
We have been advised, however, that the Office of Public Affairs has received requests for Intervention information from the public.
Today the Chairman of the Board initiated a telephone conference call with counsel for Idcensee and counsel f or the NRC Staff to caution the parties that, if the Board is not p.a m 3. u....,a
