This letter constitutes our formal reply to the subject inspection report.

It is our opinion that nothing in the report or in this letter is of a proprietary nature.

The following is our response to the item of noncompliance identified in Appendix "A" of the subject report.

1.

Corrective Action Taken and Results Achieved A procedure has been prepared for cleaning, reconditioning and making acceptable for installation, the hanger components whose condition is unacceptable. The acceptable components will be stored on shelves with an appropriate sign identifying their status as usable parts.

The following defines the cleaning and reconditioning that will be done.

a) The ball bushings on hanger struts will be cleaned and

.,7 coated with petroleum jelly.

On those parts which were cCD j received from the hanger supplier with paint on the ball bushings, the paint will be removed prior to coating.

b) All parts which were observed as requiring restoration i 1 'I 7 0'02 have been cleaned and placed in the racks.

which have been exposed to the elements and have rust areas on external surfaces will be cleaned and repainted prior to identification as usable parts.

d) Those parts which have not been cleaned will be placed in a quarantine area. Approximatel3 50% of the deficient components have been cleaned or reconditioned.

Corrective Action to be Taken To Avoid Further Noncompliance The action which will be taken to avoid further noncompliance will be a periodic surveillance of the storage facility by Henry J. Kaiser Company inspectors.

Date When Full Compliance will be Achieved Full compliance will be achieved by September 15, 1979.
