RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-19 1.
Current DOT and NRC regulations concerning the transfer, packaging and transport of low-level radioactii vaste material are main-tained at Farley Nuclear Plant.

A current copy of the license issued to Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc.
by the State of South Carolina is maintained at Farley Nuclear Plant.

The individuals responsible for transfer, packaging and transport of low-level radioactive material are designated by radiatic.t control procedure.
4.
Management approved detailed instructions are provided for transfer, packaging and transport of low-level radioactive waste.
- 5) Additional training in DOT and NRC regulatory requirements involved 6) in transfer, packaging and storage of radioactive material, and
- 6) operation of the process that generate radioactive waste has been scheduled on an annual basis.

Alabama Power Company's Operations Quality Assurance group has provided the management-controlled audit function which covers the activities of the on-site vendor and the Farley Nuclear Plant staff regarding transfer, packaging and transport of low level radioactive waste.
The last audits in this area were conducted in December, 1978 as an on-site vendor audit and in October, 1978 as part of the Radiologicti Controls audit.

Since the audits discussed in Item 7 above were not conducted with-in the last six (6) months, Alabama Power Company's Operations Quality Assurance group is currently preparing for an audit of the subject activities.
It is our intent to have the audit in process prior to October 4, 1979 and to include this activity (annually) as a specific audit on our 0QA audit schedule.
