SEP 101979 MEMORANDUM FOR: William Besaw, Director, Division of Docunent Control FROM:

B. K. Grin >es, Assistant Director for Systems Engineering, D0R

SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR ACQUISITION OF UP-TO-DATE FSARS FOR OPERATING NUCLEAR PCWER PLANTS The Plant Systems Branch of the Division of Operating Reactors is currently in the process of establishing a microfiche file containing the FSARs of all nuclear power plants.

This file would also contain aperture cards (IBM cards containing 35mm photographs) of P& ids, ESDs, plant layouts and electrical ene line drawings. These cards, along with the microfiche, are viewed on the same microfiche reader already in our possession. At the present time, our files include the FSAPs and aperture cards for 10 of the SEP plants and FSARs of several other operating facilities.

In order to establish an effective microfiche file to aide us in the review of licensee event reports, proposed modifications of existing systems, and other license amendments, we need to include in our files the up-to-date FSARs and aperture cards of the remaining operating facilities.

We are, therefore, requesting the Civisicn of Docurent Cantrol to copy,in microfiche form, the most up-to-date FSAR in the central files for each of the remaining operating plants. Two lists are enclosed which contain the names end docket numbers of these plants. contains representative plants from each of the four major NSSS vendors which would be those plants to first be put on microfiche. lists the remaining plants to be put on microfiche.

Plants on both enclosures are listed in order of preference.

We suggest that the microfiche master copy of the FSAR be turned over to the NRC Microfiche Record Center with duplicates provided to the Plant Systems Branch.

The Plant Systems Branch needs to have the FSARs for the enclosed operating nuclear power plants put on microfiche as soon as possible. Y r cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciat
