Dear Mr. Kaufman:
In accordance with the recent request of Dr. G. D. McPhersen of our Office of Research, we are enclosing the subject reoorts on tripping l
the reactor coolant pumps following a postulated loss-of-coolant accident.
l These reports may be used to assist you in the audit calculation being performed by EG&G in support of the Nuclear Regulatory Cornission.
.Since the Westinghouse and Combustion Engineering reports contain " Proprietary Infomation" they should be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR Section 2.790(b). Thus, the contents of these doctments should not be discussed with unauthorized persons and should be stored in a manner that' the contents do not become available to unauthorized persons.
Towards this end, you should treat these documents in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the NRC and DOE dated February-24, l
1978, and NRC Manual Chapter 1102, " Procedure for Placecent of Work with DOE," Exhibit 4, Item 4.
Both of these cited documents have been previously transmitted to Dr. Ybarrondo of EG&G.
