Dear Mr. Keppler:
The response to I.E.Bulletin 79-02, submitted by Commonwealth Edison as Reference (a) should be revised as delineated in this transmittal.
This information was reviewed with Mr. R. L.
Spessard of your staff upon discovery of the deficiency in the original response.
LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 In Item 4 of Reference (a), the response for LaSalle County Units 1 and 2 indicated that concrete expansion anchors were installed in accordance with approved QA/QC procedures and that these procedures required, as a minimum, the verification of the following items; a.
installation torque b.
test torque c.
embedment depth d.
anchor size The original concrete expansion anchor installation specifications (Form LS/CEA), contained the requirements for record-ing items a, b, and d only.
The requirement for recording embedment depth was incorporated in revision 3, dated July 20, 1979, of Form LS/CEA.

NRC Docket Nos. 50-373/374, 50-454/455, Commonwealth Edison 50-456/457 Mr. J. G. Keppler September 4, 1979 procedure revision, a statistical sampling program of embedment depth measurement for seismic category I piping will be established and completed prior to operation.
This documentation for LaSalle County Units 1 and 2 will be available for review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Byron Station Units 1 and 2/Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 In Item 4 of Reference (a), the response indicates that concrete expansion anchors at Byron /Braidwood Units 1 and 2 were installed in accordance with approved QA/QC procedures._ The response stated that these procedures required, as a minimum, the' verification of the following items:
a.
installation torque b.
test torque c.
embedment depth d.
anchor size Original concrete expansion anchor installation specifi-cations (Form BY/BR/CEA) contained the requirements for recording items a, b, and d only.
The requirement for recording embedment depth was incorporated in revision 4 dated April 5, 1979, of form BY/BR/CEA.
Therefore, for those seismic category I piping cystems in wh!.ch this documentation doen not exist, a program utilizing statistical sampling techniques for developing this documentation will be initiated.
This documentation for Byron /Braidwood Units 1 and 2 will be available for review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
