January, 1979 - June, 1979 This report contains a summary of activities connected with the operations of the NBSR.

It is submitted in fulfillment of section 7.8d of the NBSR Technical Specifications and covers the period from January 1, 1979 to June 30. 1979.

Section numbers in this report (such as, 7.8d(l)) correspond to those used in the Technical Specifications.

Operations during this period were uneventful.

Unscheduled Shutdowns There were no unscheduled shutdowns this period.

Tabulation of Major Items of Plant Maintenance 1.

Replaced motor in Boral Curtain hoist.

2.

Installed new shaf t and new flex coupling on #1 Cooling Tower fan drive.

3.

Inspected shell side of HE-1A heat exchanger.

4.

Replaced impeller nut gasket on #2 Thermal Shield pump.

5.

Replaced diaphram on HEV-68 (#2 Helium Blower bypass).

6.

Replaced filter elements in the D 0 Ion Exchanger pre-filters.

Replaced motor on #2 main D 0 pump (bearing P.M.).

Plugged leaking tubes in the Storage Pool Heat Exchanger.

All scheduled P.M. work for this period was cor7] eted.

Replaced the #2 +48 volt power supply.

Repaired Inverter-Diverter to eliminate a grocnded Liverter statcr.

Corrected grounded condition on the Storage Pool conductivty monitor.

Replaced the sub-tray amplifier assembly in the Reactor Dif f erential Temperature "B" channel temperature transmitter.

Replaced the sub-tray amplifier assembly in the Reactor Outlet Temperature transmitter.

Replaced the audible alarm unit in #2 Control Room annunciator.

16.

Repaired the source holder on the first floor east wall Area Monitor.

17.

Verified and adjusted calibration of the Reactor Vessel Level indicator channel.

FIA-8 Cryogenic Cooling Flow indicator.

LIA-3 D 0 Storage Tank Level indicator.

2 B TUR-1 Reactor Thermal Power recorder.

SPS-150 Emergency Standby Fan controller.

RM l-1 Building Area Radiation Monitors.

Thru l-10 RM 3-1 Secondary Coolant Radiation Monitor.

RM 3-4 Irradiated Air Radiation Monitor.

TIA 41B Reactor Differential Temperature "B" indicator.

TlA-40A Reactor Differential Temperature "A" indicator.

NC-4 Intermediate Range nuclear channel.

MC-7 6 8 Power Level nuclear channels.

Engineering Changes to the facility during this period:

ECN-228 Installation of a fusing control switch & indicator to the Boral Curtain electrical circuitry.

Summary of Radioactive Paterial Released and Results of Environmental Surveys Performed.

Two hundred and twenty-nine (229) curies of tritium and 293 curies of Argon-41 were released as gaseous waste, while 1101 milli-curies of tritium and 82 microcuries of other 6-y enitters were released in to the sanitary sewer.

Environmental samples of the streams, wells, vegetation and/or soil, and air showed no significant changes.

Summary of Significant Exposures Received by Facility Personnel and Visitors 1.

No signiffcant exposures were received by any visitors.

2.

No one at the facility received a significant exposure for this period.
