Dear Mr Denton,

Enclosed are copies of a petition recently circulated in the Bloomington, Indiana, area calling upon the NRC to revoke the construction pemit of the Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Station.

Recent events have underscored the need for this step. Public Service Indiana has admitted that they were " inexperienced" in nuclear construction, yet they persist in their desire to complete the plant. With the expected completion date pushed back to the late 1980's, and costs scaring, the econom-ic , justification for the plant and its cost-competitiveness with alternate fuels, (e.g. scrubbed coal) need thorough re-evaluation.

The order of August 15 suspending safety- elated construction is not sufficient to bring about this re-evaluation. We believe that the construction pemit should be revoked in order that a thourough examination of all construc-tion problems can be conducted, and so that a new assessment of the need for and cost of Marble Hill can be made.

The hundreds of signers of this petition, and the hundreds of thousands who will live near the Marble Hill plant, want a re-evaluation of nuclear power.

And no plant needs re-evaluation more than Marble Hill. ,
