Dear Mr. Peterson:

As a life-long resident of southcentral Pennsylvania who now lives 16 miles from Three Mile Island (in the direction in which most of the escaped radiation was blowing), and as the director of PSI which has been co:2iucting an investi-gation into some unorthodox aspects of the accident on March 28th at TMI-2, we have been informed that you can provide us with the following document which would be helpful to us:

" Population Dose and Health Impact of the Accident at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station" (a preliminary assessmentfor the period March 28 through April 7,1979) - Ad Hoc Population Dose Assessment Group prepared May 10, 1979,

'de t.hin there are subsequent updates for this impact study, and would appreciate receiving them as well.

In addition to NRC-related studies of the health impact of the TMI-2 incident (in which we are involved as a member of the Federally-financed TMI Census Survey Team), we are also very interested in obtaining the most com-plate and accurate data on events within (ard directly related to) the reactor vessels ie, temperatures in and about the fuel elements as a function of time, production of H2 as a function of time and temperature through the water-zir-conium reaction, and an estimate of just how close the reactor came to an uncontrollable fission runaway (a source for Met-Ed says the temperature came within 500 F of this condition). A copy of R. O. Meyer's memorandum " Core Dama6e Assessment for the TMI-2" of 13 April 1979 to Roger Mattson would be additionally helpful, we feel.

Tha *ing you for your attention to this request, and hoping to be kept informed of developments in these areas as the NRC's investigation continues, we remain Most sincerely yours,
