Plant Systems Branch Status: Complete The Plant Systems Branch has reviewed the design information submitted by Arkansas Power and Light Company (AP&L) in its 1.etters of October 31, 1978 and July 24, 1979. The design information describes the final and permanent installation (Phase III of the Licensee's corrective action) for cooling the north and south battery / charger and associated areas. Our evaluation of this design is enclosed.
A staff safety evaluation of the licensee's proposed corrective measures for remedying the electrical equipment cooling system design error and the immediate corrective actions to provide temporary emergency ventilation for the electrical equipment areas was prepared on October 24, 1977. The interim installation for cooling these areas, necessitated by the long delivery times associated with the purchase of Class IE equipment, was addressed in the staff's evaluation prepared on August 9, 1978.
Based on our review of the licensee's submittals, we find the pennanent installation' to provide cooling fur the north and south battery / charger and associated areas acceptable.
