Dear Mrs. Drey:

On April 27, 1979, you wrote a letter to our Mr. James G. Keppler, Director of the Region III of fice, with a copy to me at Region IV.

In this letter, you wanted to know if information you had received on " iron" used at the Wolf Creek SNUPPS plant in Kansas was accurate.

At rf direction, our Project Inspector has made inquiries at the sita regarding any use of " smaller" iron, a refusal of any welder to use Iron material at the site and the possibility of Wolf Creek " reject iron" bein;;

delivered to the Callaway plant. We have not been able to obtain any infor-mation which would indicate that any of these actions occurred.

Additionally, during routine inspections, our inspectors have not observed any icproper iron in use.

If you can furnish additional specific details as to exactly what happened, who was involved and when and where the events occurred, we will reopen our investigation.

We consider this matter closed unless you are able to provide additional and specific information on these matters.

Sincerely, GuSAA-

'K.
