This letter is to confim in writing the offical request made verbally on my behalf by my Subcomittee Staff Director, '.Jr. Ian Marceau, to Mr. Steve Kent, of NRC, for all Engineering and Design Coordination Reports prepared in connection with the Shorreham, Long Island, nuclear power plant presently under constructier It is my information that some 1,000 of these repor-ts were recently found in the Southhold, Long Island, town dump, and that there may be, according to the serial numbers on those forand,17,000
- 18,000 in total.
My purpose in seeking these reports is to ascertair whether the design changes recorded therein pose a threat of environmantal con-trination during operation of the reactor.
I make this request through my authority as Chair am of the Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Environment, the fucrsidiction of which includes "... environmental, health, safety, life sciences and. biomedical activities of the Department of Energy..."..
