se Middletcwn, Pa, April 6, 1979 Metropolitan Edison President Walter A Crei;; reported tcday that a tecnnical plan has been proposed for the transition tc the long-tern cooling node of Three "ile Island Unit ? recovery as operations continue with the Unit in stable condition.

"The steps in this plan are undergoing continuous review and analysis to ersure the best pos-ible approach," he emphasized.

" Priority effcrt is being claced on the protection of the public in all aspects of tne recovery.

Met-Ed has procosed tnis plan in concert with the reactor manufac rers as well as leaders fran the scientific and cechnical ccmmunity."

The Company believes that during this very i~portant period, day to day detaile; technical information on the plant and the recovery operation snculc come frcm a single source.

"The Nuclear Regulatory Ccrission, as a government agency, is in a unicue cosition to provide status reports.

In order to minimi confusion and misinterpretation of corolex and cnanging data, the Comoany for the present defers to the 1RC as this single source," he continued.
