Gentlemen:

Haddam Neck Plant Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit Nos.1, 2, and 3 Corporate Technical Capabilities In Reference (1), Connaticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) a.d Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) were requested to compile information regarding corporate technical capabilities to anticipate, preclude, and respond to unusual events. As noted in Reference (2), the compilation of this informa-tion was expected to be completed in early, August,1979.

In response to that request, the attached information is hereby submitted.

The attached information is divided into a number of exhibits, generally following the format of the requests made in Reference (1).

Specifically, Exhibit 1 summarizes the contractual support arrangements between CYAPCO and Northeast Utilities Service Company (NUSCO) and NNECO and NUSCO under which NUSCO provides centralized engineering and operations support to the nuclear power plants in the Northeast Utilities' (NU) system. The resources of NUSCO senior management are described in Exhibit 2, using the NRC-suggested format. Exhibit 3 describes the technical capabilities of the staff of each of our operating nuclear power plants, i.e., Haddam Neck and Millstone Unit No s. 1 and 2.

Lastly, the off site technical resources of NUSCO are deceribed in Exhibit 4.

As indicated by the attached Exhibits, it is our belief that the management and technical resources of CYAPCO, NNECO, and NUSCO are of such depth and quality that, in the event of an unusual event, a well-managed response could be undertaken to assure the safety of our personnel and the public.
