Centlemen:
lladdam Neck Plant Feedwater System Piping In Reference (1), the NRC Staff requested a schedule for the examination of f eedwater nozzle-to-piping welds at the Haddam Neck Plant.
In Reference (2),
Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) responded to this request with a schedule calling for a shutdown not later than October 30, 1979, approximately five weeks later than the Reference (1) request.
Since that time, CYAPC0 has refined and optimized the schedule for this and other efforts requiring a plant shutdown, as well as advancing the assessment of reserve system generating capacity deccribed in Item (2) of Reference (2).
The revised schedule calls for a plant shutdown to commence on September 29, 1979. This schedule was discussed earlier today by telephone with a member of the I6E Staff; as a result of that d iscu s sion, it is CYAPC0's understanding that you ffnd this schedule acceptable.
The purpose of this letter is to formally document that understanding.
In the abronce of additional cormunication on this subject, the scheduled shutdown to respond to Reference (1) will begin on or before September 29, 1979.
