Dear Mr. Grier:
Based on a telephone call from Mr. Durr of your staff regarding our answer to NRC I&E Bulletin 79-04, the staff at the FitzPatrick huclear Power Plant extended its review to include Velan check valves of other than 1500 psi which may be installed in safety-related systems.
These valves were identified and information requested both from the Architect-Engineer and the Velan Valve Corporation.
We have been informed by the Velan Valve Corporation tnat the weights of the valves in question are the weights which are identified in our on-site drawings.
In addition, we have been informed by the Architect-Engineer that these weights have created no problems in the seismic analysis since they are either equal to or possibly somewhat less than, the valve weights utilized in the analysis.
This information is available at the Site for review by ihe Inspector, if desired.
