Dresden Unit 1 Fire Protection
\\
Safety Evaluation Report dated August 9, 1979
Dear Mr. Ziemann:
Items 3.25, 3.26, and 3.27 of Reference (a) requested additional plant modifications to the emergency condenser valves, make-up supply, and level indication to allow utilization of the condenser as the heat sink for safe shutdown of the plant in the event of a fire.
Table 3.2 of Reference (a) required a decision on these items by September 1, 1979.
The safe shutdown capabilities of Dresden Unit 1 are currently being evaluated as part of the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP).
The conclusions reached in the SEP safe shutdown analysis may influence the outcome of the safe shutdown analysis for fire protection.
Therefore, a decision concerning the modifi-cations to the emergency condenser will be deferred to allow coordination with the SEP effort and prevent design and installation of a possibly incomplete or unnecessary modification to the system.
Please address any questions you may have concerning this matter to this office.
