Box 27 IN RESP 0flSE REFER Berkeley, CA 94701 TO F01A-79-336

Dear f:

r. Smith:

This is in response to your letter dated August 14, 1979 in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, information pertaining to injuries and deaths which have occurred during the use of nuclear power.

The documents listed in Appendix A are enclosed.

The information in the Licensee Event Report (LER) printout and in the Annual Reports on occupational exposure include technical overexposures (exposures exceeding NRC regulatory limits) which in most cases were minor and did not involve injury.

The report for 1978 is, at present, in the early stages of preparation.

One additional document," Operational Accidents and Radiation Exposure Experience Within the USAEC-1943-1975," WASH-1192, can be purchased by writing to the National Technical Information Service, Springfield, VA 22161.

Sincerely, f
