Thank you for your letter of July 3,1979. We are pleased that the assistance provided by Mr. Cunningham to the State on the American Atomics situation has been helpful.

We agree that close cooperation between federal and state governments is necessary on health and safety issues such as those of concern in this case. Mr. Cunningham and the NRC staff will. continue to provide technical support to the State for the license proceeding being conducted by the Arizona Atomic Energy Conmission.
