Petition That NRC be Divided into Two Separate Entities (Your Letter 4/12/79)
Mr. Felton's letter of May 18, 1979, considered as a petition for rule making your proposal that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission be divided into two separate entities - one area to deal with fissile materials and the other area to deal with byproduct materials. Mr. Felton's letter assigned Docket Number PRM-30-56 to indicate that your preposal is the 56th petition for rule making concerned with the Commission's regulation 10 CFR Part 30, " Rules of General Applicability to Domestic Licensing of Byproduct Material."
On May 17, 1979, we published in the Federal Register a notice of receipt of your petition and called for submission of comments by July 16, 1979.
As of today, we have received eleven letters of comment (copies enclosed).
We will consider these conrnents, any other comments we might receive, and other available data and information as we progress in our review of your petition.
When the Commission arrives at a decision, we will inform you of the actions the Commission will take in response to your petition.
