Your letter of June 28, 1979 was only partially. responsive to ou: request of June 1, 1979. That is, you provided information relative to design control, but you failed to provide infomation responsive to the other criteria en-closed in our request.
We have e.ompared the description of the Isomedix, Inc. quality assurance program with the acceptance criteria enclosed in our June 1,1979 letter and find numer-ous criteria which are not addressed. Please expand the description of the Isomedix, Inc. quality assurance program such that each item in the enclosure is responded to in the program description.
In the design control area, items III.5 and III.6 of the enclosure to our request of June 1,1979 can be responded to by stating:
"For any future designs or design changes, proper selection and accomplishment...," and:
"For any future designs or uesign changes, individuals or groups responsible for design verification...."
The QA program should be applied to the design, fabrication, assembly, testing, procurement, maintenance, repair, modification, and use of radioactive shipping packages. This includes the radiation shield assembly of the "Gammacell" irradiators, the 20-WC-5 wooden casks, and any other radioactive shipping packages that Isomedix, Inc. is involved with.
Please submit seven copies of the revised Isomer'ix, Inc. QA program description within 30 days following receipt of this letter.
