"EMORANDUM FOR:

Samuel J. Chilk, Secretary ROM:

Joseph D. Lafleur, Jr., Deputy Director Office of International Programs

SUBJECT:

JAPANESE COMMISSION VISIT REQUEST As you know, Commissioners Kennedy, Bradford and Ahearne met briefly with Commissior.er Uchida of the Japanese Nuclear Safety Commission on Monday, April 9, to review the status and activities of the Three Mile Island incident.

Because a Commission luncheon was not feasible on Monday and since Commissioner Uchida will remain in Washington through April 20, IP recommends that the Commission host a noontime lunch sometime between now and April 20 for Commissioner Uchida and his accompanying delegation.

In that way, those Commissioners who did not have the opportunity to meet him before could do so, and those who did could extend their brief acquaintance.

At present, ^ommissioner Uchida's schedule is open for luncheon engagements.

Please advise me on an urgent basis which of the Commissioners would be able to have lunch with Commissioner Uchida, either later this week or any time next week, and on what date.
