Dear Mr. Sauser:
The Ato=in Energy Commission has issued an Order to Metrocolitan Edison Cocrpany extending the completion date for the construction of Bree Mile Island Nuclest Station, Unit 2.
In lieu of December 1,1973, as specified in our November 4,1969 letter to.the ar,plicant for Previsicnal Cons truction Perttit No. CPPR-66, the latest ecmpletion da te has been extended to May 1, 19 77.
The request for extensic2 froct Metropolitan Edison cites or Malers and changes including reductico in work force, priority given to ecnoletion of Unit 1, ef fects of major rain storn in 1972, major strikes and extended wort stoopage, etc., that have required additional construction and engineering ti=e.
The b as es f or this extension are set f orth in a Staf f Evaluation prepared by the Iegulatory staff.
Copies of the request for extension of ecnoletion date, the Staff Evaluation, and the Order are enclosed f or the inf ormation of the Committee. The Order has been transmitted to the Of fice of the Federal Register for publicatico.
