Dear Dr. Kepford:
The Atocic Energy Comission's Regulatory Staff is engaged in a process to help make public participation in the licensing of nuclear power plants more meaningful.
Interveners in individual licensing proceedings are invited to meet, if they so desire, infor= ally with the Regulatory Staf f 2arly in the review process.
The staff extends to you and other t bers of the organizations, Citizens for a Safe Environ = cut and York Comittee for a Safe Environ =ent which you represent, an invitation to participate in such a meeting if you so desire.. At the meeting you will be able to cot =nunicate directly to the Licens!.ng Project Manager and the Environmental Project Manager your concerns related to the application for a license to operate the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2.
This will permit the Project Manage::s and Regulatory Staff to consider these concerns during the review process. This inferral meeting will also permit the staff to infor n you of the key aspects of the upccuing safety and environmental reviews, the Licensing process and the review schedule.
If you and other menbers of Citizens for a Safe Environment ud York Comnittee for a Safe Environment desire to meet informally with members of the staff, please contact us at least one week in advance indicating which comunity in your area is convenient for the meeting, the approri-mate number of people planning to attend and an appropriate date and time. We will arrange for the meeting place. Regulatory Staff members will, be available to attend any day during the week of September 22 to 28.
