301/492-7771 NRC PREHEARING CONFERENCE ON UNIT 2 0F THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION SCHEDULED FOR.MAY 22 IN HARRIS 3URG, PENNSYLVANIA The presiding Atomic Safety and Licensing Board has sched-uled a prehearing conference on May 22 in Harrisburg, Pennsyl-vania, in the Nuclear Regulatory Concission's licensing proceed-ings to consider the application of Metropolitan Edison Company and two other utilities for a license to operate Unit 2 of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Strtion.
The Board also will consider whether the provisional construction permit for Unit 2 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, should be continued, modified, terminated or appropriately conditioned to protect environmental values.
The conference will begin at 9: 30 a.m., Thursday, May 22, at the Department of Agriculture, Room 309, 2301 North Cameron S tre e t, Harrisburg.
Matters to be taken up at the prehearing conference include identification of the key issues and establishment of a schedule for further action in the proceeding.
Members of the public are invited to attend.
Persons wish-ing to make oral or written statements by way of limited appear-ances will not be permitted to do so until the evidentiary hearing, which will be held at a later date.
Along with Metropolitan Edison Company, other applicants are Jersey Central Power and Light Company and Pennsylvania Electric Company.
Three Mile Island Nuclear Station is located about 10 miles southeast of Harrisburg.
