Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 2 (TMI-2)

License No. C?PR-66 Docket No. 50-320 IE Bulletin 77-01 dated April 29, 1977 In response to your letter or April 29, 1977 and the IE Bulletin 77-01 describing the setpoint drif t deficiency of the ITE I=perial type J20T3 pneu=atic time delay relay manufactured during the period of January 1972 through Dece=ber 1973 and requested infor=ation for other types of pneu=atic time delay relays used in safety syste=s at TMI-2, we have the following ce==ents:

A field investigation showed that there are approximately 88 pneu=atic time delay relays installed in safety related systems at TMI-2.

The manufacturers of these relays are ITE I=perial types J20T3, J20T11 and J20T31, General Electric types CR122A and CR28203, Agastat type 2400 series.

For the I'"E type J20T3 relay in question there are seven (7) relays with =anufacturing code dates of January 1972 installed in each diesel generator DG-1, M 2 safety related syste=s.

'a'e plan to replace the existirs J20T3 time delay relay in the safety related circuits with 1974 or later =anuiacturing code dates through a field change prior to initial fueling currently scheduled for October 1977.

There are five (5) ITE type J20T3 relrays which have anufacturing code dates for the year 1974 installed in the safety related cir-cuits associated with the ITE Motor Centrol Center (MCC) 2-21EA.
