Dear Mr. Hoffmann:
The Nuclear Regualtory Commission Staff is presently trying to determine the hazard posed to the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2, by operations of heavy O.e. over 200,000 lbs.) aircraft at Harrisburg International Airport, near Harri.: burg, Pennsylvania. Among the factors being evaluatnd is the future gros th of activity at the Airport.
Since TWA ii a major airline utilizing Harrisburg International Airport. its future plans regarding use of thN facility are of significance in the Staff's Accordingly, we would appreciate information concerning your assessment.
plans for futt, re operations for the next five years or for such period as pro-jections have seen made and are available. Inasmuch as the Staff must take into consideration the effects of different types of aircraft, it would be most helpful if the information provided could be broken down by aircraft type.
Testimony regarding these matters will be filed by the Staff with the NRC's Atomic Safety and Licensing Appeal Board on November 17, 1973. Thus, we would be gratefulif prompt attention could be given this request. I would note that this request was preliminarily discussed with Mr. Sullivan of your office on November 1,1978.
