Dear Sirs:
Prior to a May 29, 2019 Cimarron Status teleconference, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) asked if the calculation of intake of uranium, which was submitted in response to the February 28, 2019 request for supplemental information, could be clarified during the meeting. The calculation had been included in that response to the request for supplemental information as Appendix A to the proposed revision #4 of the Cimarron Radiation Protection Plan (RPP Rev 4). Providing clarification on that calculation required the involvement of the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), who was not available for the teleconference.
On June 10, 2019, Jay Maisler (the RSO for the Cimarron site) contacted NRC personnel to discuss NRCs concern, and identified an error in the discussion of the chemical intake from inhalation presented on pages 9 and 10 of the calculation (EPMC028-CALC-001) and the corresponding equation 7.5. Mr. Maisler has revised the calculations based on that discussion.
A revised Appendix A will be submitted for NRC review.
Environmental Properties Management LLC (EPM) submits herein the revised calculation. This revised version of EPMC028-CALC-001 will be incorporated into the final copy of Radiation Protection Plan - Rev 4 upon approval of Facility Decommissioning Plan - Rev 1.
EPMs intention is to produce a final version of Facility Decommissioning Plan - Rev 1 which incorporates all changes proposed and approved throughout the process of responding to agency requests for supplemental information (i.e., the February 26, 2019 request), intermediate requests
Mr. Ken Kalman U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission July 10, 2019 Page 2 for information (e.g., the May 29 request for clarification), and requests for additional information resulting from the detailed technical review of the November 2018 Facility Decommissioning Plan - Rev 1 and all the attachments thereto.
