'Jashburn, AEC:L The applicants, by letter dated : lay 2,1974. have r= quested elacoration and further clarification of ite=s 13-43/3.7.2 and 13-49/3.<3.1, transmitted oy letter of Anril 25, 1974, ragardinc additional infernation requested on Seisnic System Analysis and Concrete Containmnt. By telephone ccryersaticn with aoplicants' repmsantative, Mr. J. Vann, en !!ay 9,1974, it was acreed tlat we contact the Buins & Rce licensing canager,.i. Zallnick, to discuss our infor=ation needs asscciated with the above items.
Information furntshed to Surns and Roe:
13-46/3.7.2 - Reques: pertains to seis=ic torsional effects which the FSAR indicated would r.ot be censidered in the designs. Applicant snould shot that connections between Catecory I structures and buried conduits.muld not be affected by anticipated differential dis-placemnts between the structures and buried conduits.
It is satisfactory to apply pseudo-static mthed of analysis to tne building to shcw that tne ten onal effect produces no greater i
differential displacement eMec'.s than is considered in the designs.
Differential displaemnt dm ;c torsica is considert in the horizontal plane on.y.
Our interest in in what hapoens to the buried pipe (conduit) as a result of the torsional effects.
13-49/3.3.1 - Infomation required is generally the same as that in 13-46 except that this respcose should ire.lude other types of building motions in additional to the torsicnal. Applicant should state what previsions are included in the buried pipe and conduit designs for differential motions between the containment structure arf _.

May 14,1974 Docket No. 50-320 V. A. Mcore, Assistant Director for Light Water Reactors, Grcuo 2 TELECON RESPCNSE (!tAY 9,1974) TO APPLICANTS' WRITTEN REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION OF ACCITIONAL INFCFf1ATICN RE;UIREMENTS Parti cipan ts :
A. Zallnick, Burns & Rce Elliott Cebbas, Burns & Rce Lyman Heller, AEC:L B. Washburn, AEC:L The applicants, by letter dated May 2,1974, have recuested elaboration and further clarificatien of items 13-46/3.7.2 and 13-49/3.8.1, transmitted by letter of Aoril 25, 1972, regarding additicnal informaticn requested en Seismic System Analysis and Cc.ncrete Containment. By telephone conversaticn with applicants' representative, r.
J. Vann, en "ay 9,1974, it uas acreed that we contact the Burns & Roe licensing manager, A. Zallnick, to discuss cur informaticn needs asscciated with the above items.
Informatien furnished to Burns and Rce:
i 13-46/3.7.2 - Recuest pertains to seismic torsicnal effects which the FSAR indicated would not be censidered in the designs.
f ppli cant should snow that connecticns between Category I structures and buried conduits uculd not be affected by anticicated differential dis-placements between the structures and buried conduits.
It is satisfactory to apply pseudo-static method of analysis *o the building to show that the torsicnal effect produces no gitater differential displacement effects than is considered in die designs.
Differential displacement due to torsion is censidered in the horizontai plane only.
Our interest in in what hapcens to the buried pipe (conduit) as a result of the torsional effects.
13-49/3.8.1 - Information required is generally the same as that in 13-46 exceot that this respcnse shculd include other tyces of building motions in additicnal to the torsional. Applicant should state what provisions are included in tne buried pipe and concuit designs for differential motions between the centainment structure and buried conduits and should crovide sufficient informaticn on desian assumpticns and calculaticns to shcw that tnese provisicns are
