Radiological Emergency Responsr: Plan he have examined, as a consequence of the Three Mile Island incident, some preparedness data provided to us on February 15 by the Nuclear Regulatory Comr.ission on the 50 States and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
In eight States, there are no known radiological emergency response plans.
Nine additional States have plans which have be*n reviewed by a variety of Federal agencies and found to contain critical deficiencies.
One State plan is now being reviewed by Federal agencies.
Eleven have plans which have been reviewed and do not contain critical deficiencies.
An additional 23 have some type of plan which either has not yet been submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or has not yet been subject to full Federal interagency review.
It is important that FDAA Regional Offices encourage Statt action with respect to these plans, especially in States with or near nuclear power generating facilities.
