Dear Sir:
RE:
DOQKET NOS. 50-387 ancL 50.-.388 As petitioners, our interests and, reasons for intervention were outlined in a petition submitted in September, 1978.
Subsequent am endm ent s wire mo r e re cently submitted exp 1 i city stating a 1lega t ion s an'd contentions to be debated at the public hearings.
/
It was not our intent in filing several amendments to delay responses from the HRC or the Applicants.
On the contrary, the Citizen the interveners, the general public, the news media,'nd the Congress await the NRC and the Applicants'fficial positions on these vital 1s'sues that involve property rights, public health and safety, and human.rights.
The sixteen contentions submitted are relevant and salient.
They were.not enumerated because they are multi-faceted and may reouire clarification. It is believed that, in accordance with the Order of "
the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board,
.dated December 14,
- 1978, would. be appropriate while considering all the intervention'etit1ons to: "Permit identification of the key issues".at the conference.
The Cit1zens will therefore enumerate their contentions at that time.
Yours truly.
Chairperson P.S.;le-are now able to report that the GAO has taken the Cit1zens'e commendation s to the NRC'nder'dvi semcnt, con cerning the public hearin s-related portion of the GAO's on-'goir;g assessment of liRC s effectiveness and efficiency in discharging the
~
licensing and related regulatory activities. assigned to-it in the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974.
