SECTION B.4 - Description/Specifications B.4.1 Scope The objective of this acquisition is to provide medium voltage non-segregated phase metal enclosed bus duct sections (bus ducts) that will be subjected to high energy arc fault test conditions. The objective is not to evaluate the electrical performance of the equipment, but to assess the hazards associated with electrical arcing faults in medium voltage non-segregated phase metal enclosed bus duct. The bus ducts may be new, used, or refurbished, provided they meet the requirements of this requisition.

The Offeror shall assemble, test, and deliver the following non-segregated phase metal enclosed bus ducts:

a) Two (2), 5 kV, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, Non-Class 1E, Copper bus, Aluminum Enclosure b) Two (2), 5 kV, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, Non-Class 1E, Aluminum bus, Aluminum Enclosure c) One (1), 5 kV, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, Non-Class 1E, Aluminum bus, Steel Enclosure d) Two (2), 90-degree Aluminum duct enclosure with flanges and connecting accessories, compatible connection to item a, item b, (conductors not required for 90-degree section) e) One (1), 90-degree Steel duct enclosure with flanges and connecting accessories, compatible connection to item c, (conductors not required for 90-degree section) f)

Contract: 31310019C0009 Modification No. P00001 Page 5 of 7 Each bus duct shall be furnished complete, including accessory equipment specified herein, and be ready for installation. The Offeror shall provide the following:

a) Equipment and services as described herein b) Necessary flanges, flexible connectors, hardware, and adaptors for connecting the bus ducts to the switchgear connection flanges c)

Coordination of equipment connection flanges for switchgear d) Necessary conductor terminations and enclosure flanges, including hardware, for making field connections of bus duct sections and fittings.

e) Drilling details and splicing material where connections to other equipment is necessary f)

Provisions for fastening to bus duct support system g) Production test report h) Bill of material for all straight sections, flanges, fittings, and adaptors B.4.2 Use Conditions

1) Altitude - 300 ft. above mean sea level
2) Location - Indoors
3) Temperature - 25°F to 100°F
4) Relative Humidity - 95%

B.4.3 Applicable Documents The following documents are applicable when supplying equipment/services to this requisition.

a) IEEE Standard C37.23, Standard for Metal-Enclosed Bus B.4.4 Design Requirements

1) Type The bus ducts shall be self-cooled, non-ventilated, metal enclosed, non-segregated three (3) phase type, with fully insulated conductors. Each bus duct section shall include conductors, insulators, housings, fittings, and necessary accessory equipment. All bus duct straight sections shall be the same length. The bus duct straight section length shall be a minimum of 6 feet and a maximum of 8 feet. The following conductor and enclosure combinations shall be provided a) Two (2), 5 kV, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, Non-Class 1E, Copper bus, Aluminum Enclosure b) Two (2), 5 kV, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, Non-Class 1E, Aluminum bus, Aluminum Enclosure c)

One (1), 5 kV, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, Non-Class 1E, Aluminum bus, Steel Enclosure d) Two (2), 90-degree Aluminum duct enclosure with flanges and connecting accessories, compatible connection to items a, b, (conductors not required)

65°C Enclosure thickness: 11GA B.4.5 Construction The bus duct shall consist of bus duct sections and fittings connected mechanically and electrically to form a rigid structure. The bus duct shall be capable of withstanding shipping, installation, and application of design short circuit forces.

1) Enclosure The enclosures of bus duct sections and fittings shall be aluminum or steel per type (see above). Sections shall be bolt connected, non-segregated, self-cooled, non-ventilated type. The enclosures of the bus duct sections and fittings shall be provided with flanges and gaskets for making bolted connection for field assembly.

The enclosure of bus duct sections and fittings shall have provisions for bolting to bus duct support structure. The Offeror shall indicate the recommended support points and any special requirements for the support. The Offeror shall provide bus duct enclosure flanges for connecting the bus duct to the switchgear and shall coordinate these items with the NRC COR. Access to the central section of the bus duct shall be provided by bolted, gasketed, removable covers from two sides agreed to by the NRC COR. The 90-degree elbow duct (item d, under type) shall be a minimum of 3.5 feet in length in the horizontal and exactly 2.5 feet in length in the vertical (see illustration above). The self-cooled enclosures shall not have any openings for ventilation. The exterior surfaces of the indoor enclosure shall be finished with enamel paint.

2) Conductors and connections The three phase bus duct conductors shall consist of suitably braced, high conductivity, insulated aluminum or copper bars per the type (see above). Insulation shall be for the rated maximum voltage. Current carrying capacity and ability to withstand fault current shall be as stated in Ratings. The bus duct conductors and connections shall be sized to carry rated load without exceeding the temperature limitations set forth in IEEE Standards C37.23. All connections shall be pre-drilled by the Offeror. Phase sequence will be designated by letters A-B-C.

Contract: 31310019C0009 Modification No. P00001 Page 7 of 7 B.4.6 Tests Production tests shall be made on each completely assembled bus sections as required by Paragraph 6.3.1 of IEEE Standard C37.23. Tests shall be performed in accordance with the procedures in IEEE Standard C37.23. Instruments used to measure and record tested variables and quantities shall be those which have valid calibration using appropriate standards traceable to the National Bureau of Standard (National Institute of Standards and Technology). A test report shall be provided for each bus duct section.

B.4.7 Shipping The equipment shall be shipped in a condition suitable to withstand shipment followed by indoor storage for up to 24-months in a dry location without losing electrical and mechanical integrity. Offeror shall provide receipt, handling and storage instructions to preserve the integrity of equipment placed in indoor storage. The equipment shall be shipped to:
