SUMMARY

OF THE CATEGORY 2 PUBLIC MEETING ON JUNE 17, 2019, ON THE POWER REACTOR CYBER SECURITY PROGRAM ASSESSMENT

SUMMARY

On June 17, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a Category 2 public meeting at the NRC Headquarters to present a summary of the Power Reactor Cyber Security Program Assessment conducted between January and June 2019. The presentation can be found in Agencywide Documents Access and Management System under Accession No.: ML19164A053 and provides a summary of the feedback collected from the assessment on proposed improvements. The proposed improvements will be used to inform the development of an action plan to evaluate appropriate changes to the power reactor cyber security program.

Upon conclusion of the presentation, the NRC staff received the following comments/questions from stakeholders:

1. A member of the public requested the name of the person that presented the assessment summary.

The NRC staff provided the name of the person, Brad Bergemann that presented the assessment summary.

2. A member of the public inquired about the timeframe on the paper to Commission.

The NRC staff stated there is no specific date at this time, but most likely by the end of the year.

The NRC staff stated that there are some initiatives with industry that are taking place within the next few months. However, the action plan will not be completed until the end of September, which will provide NRC-specific initiatives and timelines.

4. A member of the public provided a comment about if the NRC would have an issue with modifying commitments through guidance without ever modifying the actual approved Cyber Security Plan.

The NRC staff does not intend to modify commitments at his time. However, if analyses identifies modification of a commitment it would be handled through appropriate NRC processes.
