Dear Mr. Reid:

Serial No. 755/101675 PO&M/JTB:cjd Docket Nos.~

-~

License Nos. DPR~32 DPR-37 In your letter of October 16, 1975 it was requested that we review the design basis for the reactor vessel support system for the Surry Power Station, Unit Nos.* 1 and 2 to determine whether transient loads described in your enclosure were taken into account appropriately in the des_i gn.

We are advised by the nuclear steam supply system manufacturer, the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, that the asymmetric pressure in the cavity surrounding the reactor vessel and the reactor pressure vessel internal forces wer~ not considered in the design of the Surry Units.
